(렘 17:5) 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 무릇 사람을 믿으며 육신으로 그의 힘을 삼고 마음이 여호와에게서 떠난 그 사람은 저주를 받을 것이라

(렘 17:6) 그는 사막의 떨기나무 같아서 좋은 일이 오는 것을 보지 못하고 광야 간조한 곳, 건건한 땅, 사람이 살지 않는 땅에 살리라

(렘 17:7) 그러나 무릇 여호와를 의지하며 여호와를 의뢰하는 그 사람은 복을 받을 것이라

(렘 17:8) 그는 물 가에 심어진 나무가 그 뿌리를 강변에 뻗치고 더위가 올지라도 두려워하지 아니하며 그 잎이 청청하며 가무는 해에도 걱정이 없고 결실이 그치지 아니함 같으리라

(렘 17:9) 만물보다 거짓되고 심히 부패한 것은 마음이라 누가 능히 이를 알리요마는

(렘 17:10) 나 여호와는 심장을 살피며 폐부를 시험하고 각각 그의 행위와 그의 행실대로 보응하나니

(렘 17:11) 불의로 치부하는 자는 자고새가 낳지 아니한 알을 품음 같아서 그의 중년에 그것이 떠나겠고 마침내 어리석은 자가 되리라

(Jr 17:5) This is what the LORD says： "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD.

(Jr 17:6) He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives.

(Jr 17:7) "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

(Jr 17:8) He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

(Jr 17:9) The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

(Jr 17:10) "I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

(Jr 17:11) Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay is the man who gains riches by unjust means. When his life is half gone, they will desert him, and in the end he will prove to be a fool.
